DebtFreeMe is a debt payoff planning and motivation tool. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect only what you give us, we never ask for your bank credentials, and you can delete everything at any time.
What we collect
Account information. Your name, email address, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), and optionally a phone number and profile photo.
Debt information you enter. Debt names, balances, APRs, minimum payments, payments you record, notes, and income or expense figures you choose to add. You type these in yourself, we never pull them from anywhere.
Device and usage data. Basic diagnostics such as app version, device type, and crash reports, used only to keep the app working.
What we never collect
No bank logins. No account linking. No transaction feeds. DebtFreeMe never connects to your financial institutions and never moves money.
How we use your information
To run your account and sign you in (including two-factor authentication and biometric lock, which stays on your device). To calculate your payoff plan, projections, and milestones from the numbers you enter. To send you the notifications you opt into: payment reminders, milestone celebrations, weekly progress reports, and smart tips. To fix bugs and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Tracking and advertising
DebtFreeMe does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use third-party advertising networks or ad trackers. We never use the debt information you enter for advertising. Because we do not track you across other apps and websites, the app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.
Notifications
Push notifications are optional and controlled by you, both in the app's notification preferences and in your device settings. Reminders are notifications only, they never trigger a payment.
Sign-in with Apple or Google
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from that provider to create your account. We never see your Apple or Google password.
Storage and security
Your data is stored with our cloud infrastructure provider and encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to what is needed to operate the service. No method of storage is 100% secure, but we treat your financial details with the care they deserve.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active so the app can show your plan and progress. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data and debt information from our live systems promptly, and from routine encrypted backups within 30 days. We may retain a limited amount of information for longer only where we are legally required to, or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements, and only for as long as necessary.
Your rights
You can view and edit your profile and all debt data in the app at any time. You can export or request a copy of your data by contacting support. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as under GDPR or CCPA), and we honor requests to access, correct, or delete your data regardless of location.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Privacy & Security → Delete account. Deletion removes your account info and profile, all debt entries, payments, and notes, your payoff plans and saved scenarios, and your notification preferences. This is permanent and cannot be undone.
Children
DebtFreeMe is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app before they take effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
